The adventure last night was epic in every way. Thank you to Ghaelen and Zriepraxis for their epic, nearly three-hour run with Seralune into the jungles and across the world last night. The three ran through a stormy desert at night, watching the lightning flash as the demons closed in around them, the group under constant attack as they navigated the bloodthirsty, corrupted beasts and their undead allies.
Light was a weapon, as Sera would often hold a torch to guide the group at night and illuminate the battles before joining in herself. The group moved effectively, with Sera in the middle, using a torch to keep them together and prevent anyone from getting lost, which would have been deadly.
They placed bedrolls and made camps before dungeons and bosses, so they could stick together in case a person was knocked out by a fight, and the prospect of running all the way across the world was not an option. Local base camps are a great idea when you are far from home, and your spawn point matters.
Silk was the prize, and the three ended up in the deep jungles, where unkillable wraiths were the foe, but the three found the prize they were seeking, and bolts of silk were grabbed by greedy and needy hands. They saw an amazing, deep, detailed world, barely scratched the surface of, and its secrets.
The server stability was excellent and perfect last night, with no crashes or server restarts happening in a three-hour run, with hundreds of monsters fought, many zone-lines loaded and crossed, and the action just did not stop. The visuals were out of this world good, atmospheric, and dramatic, with a wide variety of terrains and weather encounters, along with the ever-present wickedness of corruption from the diabolical minions of Hell.
And those minions were sent straight back there.
This feels like the mythical "old days" of why I play MMOs: to team up, cooperate, help each other, and roleplay after the adventure, celebrating our victory and enjoying the characters and stories we create together.
Together, they faced the dangerous wastes, shared an amazing adventure, and learned to fight and conquer a world fallen into barbarism and savagery.
While Norrath may be dead, its heroes still survive.
And they thrive.
